Birding at Sandalwood Savannah Lodge

Although our time for birdwatching was very limited (only 2 hours available for birding) and it was already late morning, we had a great outing at Sandalwood Savannah Lodge on Saturday.

With many thanks to Pax Bell, the owner of Sandalwood Savannah Lodge, and Rihann Geyser of Galago Environmental CC who identified 54 species in two hours, I had the privilege again to spend quality time in the bush.

Attached are some birding pictures that I was able to take .

Sandalwood Savannah Lodge is a very discreet hide away, bragging of an extremely secure environment. It is enveloped by large Game Farms and off the beaten track, perfect for your birding trips and weekend getaways. The vegetation has in itself away of giving on energy which u needed to feel to appreciate.

Birding is not at all a fashion contest. The clothing you wear should be comfortable and practical, for example: the hat should provide shade for your eyes and not interfere when using your binoculars. Compared to most of the other recreational activities, this is not an expensive hobby. To get started with this hobby you will need the following: a notebook, a field guide, and binoculars – all together will cost less than a good pair of athletic shoes.
