What do birdwatchers do when they go birding? We observe wild birds in their natural habitats. Birding means learning how to identify the variety of birds in their natural surroundings and learning how to understand what they are doing as well as their natural behavior. Birding is an activity or hobby that you can do in your own back yard.
You can create and track your sightings with a life list. A life list is a cumulative record of all the bird species a birder successfully identified, and keeping a list is the easiest way to track exactly what you have seen.
Lifers are your very first sightings of a specific species which becomes an important addition to you’re life list.
Birdwatching, or birding, is an exciting and relaxing form of wildlife observation in which is classified as a recreational activity or in some cases citizen science. It can be done with the naked eye, through a visual enhancement device like binoculars and telescopes or by listening for bird sounds.
