Terns at Goukamma Nature Reserve

Terns at Goukamma Nature Reserve. Thousands of terns gathered at the mouth of the Goukamma river near Buffelsbaai on Sunday 24 October 2021. It was a beautiful summer day and tide coming in. Local tourists were all out there, lots of people at the beach and the lagoon.
Many Common terns, Swift terns, Caspian terns, Kelp gulls and cormorants were also enjoying the sun and sea breeze at Goukamma.
Best to view these pics are on big screen. The surf in the background compliments the dark blue water of the Goukamma lagoon and added to the composition of the photographs.
Many migrants are now visiting our lakes and it is great to see and hear the birds that can be expected in summer. Forest birds are also very active.
Birders can look forward for some good sightings for the rest of the year.
